With effect from 1 January 2012, Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) require all retail investors who are investing in Specified Investment Product (SIP) which is neither listed nor quoted on a securities market or a futures market to go through a Customer Knowledge Assessment (CKA).
Customer Knowledge Assessment (CKA) is introduced to assess whether a retail investor possess the relevant knowledge or experience to understand the risks and features of unlisted Specific Investment Products (SIP). For more information on CKA, please find out more from the MAS consumer guide and FAQs.
Retail investors who are assessed to possess the relevant knowledge and experience can opt to continue their investment activity without receiving any advice from Aviva. If retail investors opt to continue their investment activity without receiving advice, they would not be able to rely on Section 27 of the Financial Advisers Act to file a civil claim against Aviva.
Retail investors who are assessed not to possess the relevant knowledge or experience are strongly encouraged to accept advisory help from Aviva Advisors.

It is compulsory for Aviva to assess retail investor's relevant knowledge and experience to understand the risks and features of unlisted Specific Investment Products (SIP) and offer the necessary advice and recommendations.
Customers who do not complete their CKA after 1 January 2012 will not be able to execute online purchases (including switches) themselves and will need to seek investment advice on whether the specific products are suitable for them before they can proceed with the purchase.
We encourage all our customers to complete their assessment by 30 December 2011 to ensure we keep trading disruption to a minimum. Plus, enjoy a free coffee on us when you complete your assessment by end of this year! The coffee will be given in the form of a $10 starbucks coffee card and it will be mailed to you via post upon completion and receipt of your CKA assessment form.
To start your CKA assessment, you can either fill up hard copy of the form and scan the form back to us or you can access an online application form which will be available from 1 January 2012 onwards. In addition, you may also be required to provide supporting documentation's to demonstrate that you possess the relevant knowledge or experience, e.g. education certificate, professional certificate, account transaction statement or letter from your workplace to confirm your working experience upon request from Aviva.
